The Belarusian diaspora begins monitoring the implementation of the right to political asylum for citizens of Belarus in Georgia. This was reported by human rights defender, deputy chairman of the organization "Belarusian Diaspora of Adjara" Raman Kislyak. Apparently, the Georgian authorities, under the influence of the Kremlin, often resort to complications and violations of procedures. There is a problem with delaying the consideration of asylum cases, we know about 20 refusals to grant asylum to Belarusians. Pickets have already been held in the diaspora on this topic.
"There is information about violations: documents are lost in the migration department. People and originals represent, and copies, part disappears. The authorities of Georgia must understand that this part of reality will become known not only to themselves, but also to partners, international human rights organizations and other countries," Kislyak said.
It is planned that the monitoring will last at least six months, and the final report will be in at least three languages: Georgian, Belarusian and English.
