Political prisoner Yury Zenkovich will be tried in a new criminal case for “malicious disobedience to the colony administration”. On August 7, the Leninsky District Court of Mogilev will consider his case under the chairmanship of Judge Viktoria Polyakova.
Yury Zenkovich was detained in April 2021 in Moscow in a case of “conspiracy to unconstitutionally seize state power” in Belarus and handed over to the Lukashenko regime. In September 2022, he was sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony.
At the end of 2022, Zenkovich was tried again, this time for “insulting a representative of the authorities”. According to preliminary information, he was given another six months in prison. Initially, he served his sentence in Bobruisk Colony No. 2, where he was subjected to pressure, spent 8 days in a punishment cell, and went on a hunger strike. Later, the sentence was toughened, and Yuriy was transferred to a high-security prison in Mogilev.
