Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with ambassadors and diplomats of the G7 countries, and also with U.S. Democratic senators

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya began her visit to Washington with a meeting with representatives of the G7 countries, where she emphasized the importance of international support for Belarus and the need to continue to put pressure on the lukashenka regime to release political prisoners and hold free elections.


The leader of the Belarusian democratic forces also met with U.S. Democratic senators, including Jeanne Shaheen, chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Relations, European and Regional Security Cooperation, and co-founder of the Free Belarus faction.


Senator Shaheen emphasized her support for all Belarusians fighting for the freedom of their country. She recalled the political prisoners currently held in Belarusian jails and noted that the meeting discussed ways to improve the plight of these people through joint efforts of the international community.
