“I am glad that another 30 political prisoners in Belarus have been pardoned,” Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya, leader of the Democratic Forces of Belarus, wrote on her page on the X network on September 4.
She emphasized that all these people are innocent.
“However, the repression continues to intensify, and more than 1,400 people remain in prison for political reasons. We need constant international pressure to achieve freedom for all of them,” the politician emphasized.
It became known on September 4 that lukashenka had pardoned 7 women and 23 men who had been convicted of “protest crimes”. Most of the convicts are parents of minors and young children.
According to human rights activists, 1,371 people are currently recognized as political prisoners. In reality, there are much more.
